A ten-month-old child in Tripura’s Unakoti district was allegedly given water blended with sanitiser to drink at a well being centre the place he was taken for administering a polio vaccine, police mentioned on Wednesday.

A police criticism was registered in opposition to the ASHA (accredited social well being activist) employee for giving the newborn sanitiser-mixed water, police official Pradyot Datta mentioned.

After the newborn was administered a polio vaccine on the well being centre in Sonamura village on Tuesday, his mom requested the ASHA employee to present consuming water, police mentioned.

After consuming the water the newborn received unwell and was taken to a hospital.

Mr Datta mentioned that as per the preliminary investigation it was discovered to be a mistake.

Well being officers mentioned the newborn was present process therapy and his situation is secure.
