New Delhi:

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Delhi for impersonating a Main within the Indian Military, and a faux identification card was seized from him, police stated on Saturday.

The deception was uncovered when a case was registered towards Suraj Tiwari on Thursday for voluntarily inflicting harm and wrongful restraint and was arrested.

Because it was a bailable offence, he was requested to deposit a surety to get bail. However the accused confirmed an ID card to say that he was a Main within the Indian Military and that the police can not arrest him, a senior police officer stated.

“The ID card was of inferior paper high quality which raised suspicion. Police interrogated him and he confessed that it was faux. Thereafter, a case was registered towards him at Prem Nagar police station,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) PK Mishra stated.

It was revealed whereas at school, he had joined the Nationwide Cadet Corps (NCC) and visited IMA Dehradun as soon as which fascinated him and he developed a robust liking for the uniform, the DCP stated.

Nonetheless, he didn’t have the tutorial qualification to be an officer within the Indian Military. So, he cast the ID and pretended to be a Main, Mr Mishra stated.

Investigation is underway to determine whether or not any Defence Ministry personnel was concerned in making the counterfeit identification card, police stated.
