In a press release, the ministry stated, Blue Flag certification has been awarded to eight seashores unfold throughout 5 states and two union territories by a global jury comprising of eminent members of the United Nations Surroundings Programme (UNEP), the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Denmark-based NGO Basis for Environmental Training (FEE) and the Worldwide Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The seashores which have been awarded the certification are Shivrajpur in Gujarat, Ghoghla in Diu, Kasarkod and Padubidri in Karnataka, Kappad in Kerala, Rushikonda in Andhra Pradesh, Golden in Odisha and Radhanagar in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, it stated.
India has additionally been awarded the third prize by the jury underneath the “Worldwide Finest Practices” for air pollution management in coastal areas, it added.
