Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has urged “classical language” for Bengali.

Chief of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday urged the federal government to offer Bengali language the standing of a “classical language” within the nation.
“Bengali literature is likely one of the most enriched our bodies of literature in trendy India and Bangladesh. I suggest that the Bengali language needs to be given the popularity of a classical language. That is my request to the federal government. I haven’t got any totally different opinion in regards to the recognition of six languages (already categorized) as classical languages,” Mr Chowdhury mentioned within the Decrease Home.
“There is no such thing as a particular eligibility of how a classical language is set. Bengali language with all its heritage needs to be included as a classical language,” he mentioned.
Tamil was the primary language in India to be accorded the classical language standing in 2004. Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Odia are the opposite languages which have been declared as classical languages in India by the federal government. (ANI)
