Author Arundhati Roy on Wednesday slammed the federal government for the “relentless and ongoing incarceration of activists, teachers and legal professionals”, a day after an affiliate professor of the Delhi College was arrested by the NIA within the Bhima Koregaon Elgar Parishad case.

Arundhati Roy mentioned folks representing secular, anti-caste and anti-capitalist politics posed a risk to the federal government’s “disastrous Hindu Nationalist politics”.

The NIA accused Hany Babu Musaliyarveettil Tharayil, 54, an affiliate professor within the Division of English, of propagating Naxal actions and Maoist ideology and being a “co-conspirator” within the case.
