A new child elephant calf which had obtained caught in a swampy area was rescued by forest division officers in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district on Friday.

A herd of 21 elephants has been roaming in Fingeshwar forest vary of the district for the final couple of days, mentioned a forest official.

“Round 5 am, we obtained info that an elephant within the herd had given beginning to a calf close to Bangawa village and the new child is caught within the marshy area,” mentioned Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mayank Agrawal.

“Officers rushed there, however we couldn’t launch a rescue operation instantly because the child elephant’s mom was very shut,” he informed PTI.

“As quickly because the mom elephant retreated into the forest, we began our operation. The calf was pulled out by eight am with the assistance of locals,” he mentioned.
