A banker was shot useless and Rs 1.15 crore looted in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Friday, the police stated.

Arambam Ranjan Meitei (37), an worker of the State Financial institution of India (SBI), was on the way in which to load money in 16 ATMs when the incident occurred exterior the financial institution’s Churachandpur important department round 11 am, they stated.

The armed males, who’re but to be recognized, shot him from a detailed vary, snatched the cash and fled from the spot, the police stated.

Meitei, a resident of Zoveng Khuga Tampak, was first taken to the Churachandpur District Hospital and from there he was shifted to the Shija Hospital in Imphal within the afternoon for higher therapy, they stated.

He died due to the accidents just a few hours later, a spokesperson of the Shija Hospital advised PTI.

The police stated the matter is being investigated and a hunt is on to arrest these behind the incident.

Some suspects have been held for questioning, police sources stated.
