There is no such thing as a query of extending the continuing week-long lockdown in Bengaluru set to finish on July 22, newly appointed commissioner of the town civic physique N Manjunatha Prasad stated immediately.

His clarification comes as speculations have been rife that the lockdown could also be prolonged for 15 days, regardless of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s assertion on the contrary.

Mr Yediyurappa had on Friday stated lockdown was not the answer for controlling COVID-19 and made it clear that there was no proposal earlier than the federal government to increase it.

Mr Prasad took over because the commissioner of the town civic physique on Saturday night.

His predecessor BH Anil Kumar, together with metropolis Mayor M Goutham Kumar, nevertheless, had favoured extension of lockdown.
