Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was on Wednesday sworn in as Governor of Goa at a ceremony held on the Raj Bhavan in Panaji.

Mr Koshyari, 78, who was administered the oath by Chief Justice of Bombay Excessive Courtroom Justice Dipankar Datta, will proceed as Maharashtra Governor with extra cost of Goa, an official stated.

He succeeds Satya Pal Malik who was on Tuesday transferred from Goa and appointed Governor of Meghalaya.

Mr Koshyari learn out his oath in Konkani. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Chief of Opposition in Meeting Digambar Kamat have been amongst these current on the event.

Mr Koshayri additionally acquired a guard of honour from Goa police.

An official launch stated Koshyari,who assumed the workplace of the Governor of Maharashtra in September 2019 brings with him an enormous and diverse expertise of public service.

In 1997, Koshyari grew to become a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and after Uttarakhand state was fashioned, he grew to become minister of power, irrigation, legislation and legislative affairs, the discharge stated.

Mr Koshayri was the chief minister of Uttarakhand throughout 2001-02. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand in November 2008 and held the place until 2014, it added.
