The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has denounced the suspension of eight Rajya Sabha MPs, with its chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee calling the motion reflective of the “autocratic mindset” of the federal government.

Accusing the BJP of killing democracy, the Trinamool Congress chief declared she is going to battle the “fascist” authorities in Parliament and on streets.

“Suspension of the eight MPs who fought to guard farmers pursuits is unlucky & reflective of this autocratic Govts mindset that does not respect democratic norms and ideas. We can’t bow down and we’ll battle this fascist Govt in Parliament and on the streets. #BJPKilledDemocracy,” she tweeted.

The occasion termed the choice to droop the MPs, together with the TMC chief in Rajya Sabha Derek O’Brien, as “undemocratic” and stated, “Parliament can’t be allowed to show right into a lawless jungle” by the ruling BJP.

Senior TMC leaders and Lok Sabha MPs Mahua Moitra and Saugata Roy too condemned the suspension and stated the choice was “undemocratic and in violation of laid down procedures”.

“After suspending democracy and the rule of regulation, BJP is suspending opposition from parliament!” she added.

Mr Roy stated the opposition voices in Parliament have been being “muzzled”.

Two key farm payments, dubbed by the federal government as the largest reform in agriculture, have been on Sunday handed by Rajya Sabha by a voice vote amid chaotic scenes by opposition members who demanded that they be referred to a Home panel for better scrutiny.
