Three younger males, who allegedly exploited a loophole on an e-commerce agency’s web site to make web shoppers pay them as a substitute of the corporate for his or her purchases, have been arrested for cyber fraud, police mentioned Tuesday.

“They exploited a loophole within the Amazon web site that allowed them to take screenshot of booked merchandise which they despatched to gullible patrons, saying their product has been booked at a reduced charge. They then requested the shoppers to make the fee to them however the buyer would by no means get their merchandise,” Further Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Noida, Ankur Aggarwal mentioned.
He mentioned the accused have been recognized as Abdul Hannan, Suheb Hasan, each from Moradabad, and Nishant Alam, from Higher Noida.
“The accused are younger males, one or two of them are faculty drop outs. They’ve been staying in Noida on a rented flat in Sector 137 and operated from there,” Mr Aggarwal instructed reporters.
The racket was busted after a person approached the Part 2 police station, claiming he had been duped by some individuals who tricked him into paying Rs three lakh, based on the officer.
An FIR was lodged on the idea of this grievance and an investigation launched with the Cyber Cell additionally being roped in for the probe that led to the revealing of the fraud, police mentioned.
Police recovered illegally-gotten Rs 1,22,000 in money from the trio, 9 cellphones and impounded a motorbike value Rs 2,50,000, based on a police assertion.
The accused have been charged below related sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in addition to below the related provisions of the Data Expertise Act, police mentioned.
