An enormous explosion rocked the Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday, shaking buildings, shattering home windows and sending an enormous plume of smoke into the sky, AFP correspondents stated.

Lebanese media carried photos of individuals trapped beneath rubble, some bloodied, after the huge explosion, the reason for which was not instantly recognized.

The loud blast in Beirut’s port space was felt throughout giant components of town and a few districts misplaced electrical energy.

Preliminary reviews by native Lebanese media stated the blast might have been the results of an incident at Beirut port.

“Buildings are shaking,” tweeted one resident, whereas one other wrote: “An infinite, deafening explosion simply engulfed Beirut. Heard it from miles away”.

On-line footage from a Lebanese newspaper workplace confirmed blown out home windows, scattered furnishings and demolished inside panelling.
