The CBI has arrested a department supervisor of Financial institution of Baroda for allegedly taking bribe from a farmer for clearing his agriculture mortgage, officers stated Friday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) performed searches on the residence of accused department supervisor Kiran Thakre of Parola Department, Jalgaon in Maharashtra and an agent throughout which Rs 10 lakh was recovered in money.
The CBI had charged the 2 for receiving a bribe of Rs 75,000 from the complainant for sanction and disbursement of agriculture mortgage of Rs 7.10 lakh to the farmer who gave a grievance to the company, they stated.
“Throughout investigation, it was revealed that one agent (non-public particular person) additionally allegedly demanded bribe of Rs 25,000 for processing the stated matter. It was additional alleged that the bribe quantity was later negotiated and was fastened at Rs.75,000 (Rs 50,000 for the Supervisor and Rs 25,000 for the agent),” CBI spokesperson RK Gaur stated.
The department supervisor allegedly took a clean cheque from the farmer for clearing his mortgage, Mr Gaur stated, terming it a “distinctive modus operandi” in bribery instances.
An quantity of Rs 75,000 was withdrawn by way of the agent.
The cheque was recovered together with mortgage file throughout the searches on the residence, he stated.
