Veteran critic and versatile author Dr G S Amur died on Monday as a consequence of age associated illnesses, household sources stated.

He was 95 and he died in his residence, they stated.

The literateur, recognized for his proficiency in each Kannada and English, was a recipient of a number of prestigious honours, together with the Sahitya Akademi Award, Rajyotsava Award and Bharatiya Bhasha Award.

His a lot acclaimed books in Kannada embody ”Are Kannada Kadambariya Belavanige”, ”Arthaloka”, ”Vyavasaya” and ‘‘Kaadambariya Swaroopa”.

Mr Amur’s English works included ”Forbidden Fruit, Views on Indo-Anglian Fiction” and ”Colonial Consciousness in Commonwealth Literature”.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa stated Dr Amur acquired his doctorate for his thesis on ”The Idea of Comedy: A Re-statement”.

“Amur had equal command over English and Kannada. He was the main determine in critiquing the trendy Kannada literature,” he stated.
