Brussels:
The European Union stated Tuesday it deplored China’s adoption of a safety regulation for Hong Kong which it warned would undermine its autonomy and undercut the judiciary.
“We deplore this choice,” European Council head Charles Michel advised a press convention.
“This regulation dangers significantly undermining the excessive diploma of autonomy of Hong Kong and having a detrimental impact on the independence of the judiciary and the rule of regulation,” Michel stated in feedback repeated by European Fee head Ursula von der Leyen.
