A Noida-based manufacturing unit manufacturing and promoting counterfeit merchandise of common home items like Harpic bathroom cleaner, disinfectant Dettol, and washing powder Surf Excel, amongst others, has been busted, the police mentioned on Friday.
Tons of of those packaged gadgets bearing labels of unique merchandise have been seized and two folks recognized because the proprietor of the manufacturing unit, working clandestinely from a home, have been charged, they mentioned.
A police spokesperson mentioned, “The racket was unearthed following a tip-off from Haryana about this firm working illegally and manufacturing counterfeit merchandise of branded gadgets from a home close to Sector 81 metro station.”
“When a police group reached the spot on Thursday night time, it discovered labourers loading a truck with comparable merchandise. When probed, they informed the group that had been employed for every day wage labour and had no clue concerning the manufacturing unit’s works,” the spokesperson mentioned.
Additional inquiry revealed that the manufacturing unit belongs to a Sector-106 resident recognized as Ankur and his spouse’s brother Sunny, the official mentioned, including that an FIR has been lodged in opposition to the duo below the Copy Proper Act.
