A former Military soldier, allegedly masquerading as a lieutenant colonel, was arrested from Fatehgarh Sahib on Friday for duping unemployed youth on the pretext of getting them recruited within the armed forces, the police stated.
The Police stated they recovered faux paperwork, numerous faux ID playing cards, a sword of the Military, badges, faux quantity plates with Military insignia, a .32 bore pistol, air rifle, cartridges, military uniforms, a laptop computer, paperwork associated to the Indian Military and pretend certificates from his possession.
Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Amneet Kondal stated that police had acquired a tip-off that an individual named Sobhraj Singh alias Shive, a resident of Ludhiana, who had served within the Military as a constable was masquerading as a lieutenant colonel.
Ms Kondal stated the accused and two of his accomplices had fashioned a gang to dupe unemployed youth on the pretext of getting them recruited within the Military and extracted large quantities of cash from them.
Police personnel intercepted a automobile with Military insignia close to Floating Restaurant at Sirhind, the official stated.
The accused was in an Military uniform, however he couldn’t present any ID card or doc to show his id. When the car was searched by the police, they recovered numerous faux paperwork, uniforms, she stated.
The SSP stated that in preliminary investigation Singh revealed his id and stated that he was recruited within the Military in 2003 as a constable and took retirement on medical grounds in 2014.

The SSP stated the accused revealed that at current he was staying along with his pal at Mandi Gobindgarh, close to Fatehgarh Sahib, after which the police raided the home and recovered 10 faux stamps, letterheads, Military uniforms, police badges, belt, and pretend paperwork of the Military.
The senior IPS officer stated the accused has taken separate loans of Rs 18 lakh and Rs 10 lakh from two personal banks in Ludhiana by furnishing faux paperwork and impersonating as a lieutenant colonel.
