India has dismissed the controversy over the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, saying Exterior Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s remarks on him had been about “our shared Buddhist heritage” and there is “little question” that the founding father of Buddhism was born in Nepal’s Lumbini.
