India has expressed its concern over studies of resumption of hostilities within the Nagarno-Karabakh area of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border which befell within the early hours of September 27 and reiterated the necessity for the perimeters to stop hostilities instantly, maintain restraint and take all doable steps to keep up peace on the border.

India additionally expressed its assist for OSCE Minsk Group’s continued efforts for a peaceable decision of the battle between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“We have now seen resumption of hostilities between Armenia and Azerbaijan within the Nagorno-Karabakh area for the reason that early hours of 27 September leading to casualties on either side. India is worried over this example which threatens regional peace and safety,” the Exterior Affairs Ministry stated in an announcement on Thursday.

It stated India believes that any lasting decision of the battle can solely be achieved peacefully by diplomatic negotiations.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have been at loggerheads over the mountainous area of Nagorno-Karabakh since 1988. Peace talks have been held since 1994 when a ceasefire was reached, however there have been occasional minor clashes alongside the borders.

United Nations Secretary-Normal Antonio Guterres had on Monday referred to as on Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders to take instant steps to determine a ceasefire.
