India and the US on Friday held a bilateral 2+2 inter-sessional assembly on the official stage throughout which the 2 sides exchanged views about regional developments and agreed to pursue their quest for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
On the assembly held nearly, the Indian delegation was led collectively by Vani Rao, Joint Secretary (Americas) within the Ministry of Exterior Affairs, and Somnath Ghosh, Joint Secretary (Worldwide Cooperation) within the Ministry of Defence.
The US delegation was led collectively by Dean Thompson, Senior Bureau Official, Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs within the US Division of State, and David Helvey, Performing Assistant Secretary for Indo-Pacific Safety Affairs within the US Division of Protection.
Either side reviewed the progress and developments in bilateral ties in defence, safety, and overseas coverage areas for the reason that final 2+2 ministerial assembly held on December 18, 2019 in Washington DC, the Ministry of Exterior Affairs stated in an announcement.
They explored alternatives for enhancing ongoing cooperation in these fields primarily based on mutual curiosity, the MEA stated.
“In addition they exchanged views about regional developments, and agreed to pursue their quest for a free, open, inclusive, peaceable and affluent Indo-Pacific,” the assertion stated.
