Fantasy cricket league platform Dream11 has been named title sponsors for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, after the Board of Management for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Chinese language smartphone-makers Vivo suspended their contract for this 12 months. Dream11 outbid corporations like Tata Sons, Unacademy and Byju’s to bag the title sponsorship deal for the cash-rich league. Dream11 bid Rs 222 crore for the sponsorship rights, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel mentioned. Unacademy had bid Rs 210 crore, Tata Sons Rs 180 crore and Byju’s had bid Rs 125 crore.

Vivo and BCCI postponed their partnership for one 12 months because of the prevailing India-China border stand-off. Beneath the cope with Vivo, BCCI have been receiving Rs 440 crore per 12 months.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had mentioned after the suspension of sponsorship contract with Vivo, that it was not a monetary disaster.

“I would not name it a monetary disaster. It’s just a bit little bit of a blip,” Ganguly mentioned.

“BCCI, it is a very robust basis – the sport, the gamers, the directors up to now have made this recreation so robust that BCCI is ready to deal with all these blips,” he had mentioned.

“You retain your different choices open. It’s like Plan A and Plan B.”

The IPL was initially scheduled to start on March 29, however was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
