A number of villages in Assam’s Nagaon district had been flooded after incessant rainfall induced water ranges of the Borpani and Kapili to rise.
Individuals from Kampur and Raha had been pressured to take shelter in makeshift tents on roadsides after floodwaters entered their properties.
Locals attributed the devastation to the opening of the Karbi Langpi Hydro Electrical Undertaking on September 24 after the heavy rainfall.
“The quantity seven dam was opened earlier which has made the flood state of affairs a lot worse. Floodwaters washed away peoples’ cattle final night time and our farms are fully flooded. We’re already struggling because of the COVID-19 lockdown. How will we recuperate from this?” an area mentioned.
“We request the federal government to talk to the authorities of the dam. They have to assist us on this state of affairs,” he added.
