A 27-year-old attendant at a COVID-19 quarantine centre in Maharashtra’s Thane district has been arrested for allegedly raping a girl on the facility, police stated on Sunday.

The incident befell in June, however got here to mild on Saturday when the 20-year-old girl lodged a police grievance, inspector Sampat Patil of Navghar police station stated.

The lady in her grievance alleged that the accused dedicated the offence whereas she was attending to an 11-year- previous relative who was lodged on the quarantine centre, situated in Mira Highway space, the official stated.

Based on the police, the lady was staying in a room on the facility alongside along with her 10-month-old daughter to maintain the relative who examined optimistic for coronavirus.

The accused used to go to the room at evening below the pretext of giving sizzling water. He allegedly made advances in the direction of the lady, however she resisted his transfer following which he threatened to kill her youngster, Sampat Patil stated.

He allegedly raped the lady within the room on three events within the first week of June, the official stated.

The lady didn’t method police at the moment as she was afraid the accused would hurt her relations.

She lodged a police grievance on Saturday following which the accused was arrested and a case was registered in opposition to him below Indian Penal Code Part 376 (rape) and different related provisions, the official stated.
