A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly duping a number of girls on the pretext of marriage, police stated on Saturday.

The matter got here to gentle when a lady lodged a grievance towards him at Kotla Mubarakpur police station.

In response to her grievance, the accused, posing as a British citizen, approached her on a matrimony website.

Vishal alias Mohit Tokas satisfied the complainant that he wants some cash and after getting the quantity, he’ll marry her, police stated.

The girl transferred Rs 1,21,900 into his checking account and after receiving the cash, he stopped taking her calls, they stated.

Throughout investigation, police checked all of the numbers by which the accused had contacted the complainant and located that they have been issued on faux IDs, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Atul Kumar Thakur stated.

“Police analysed the account wherein the complainant transferred the cash and located one cell variety of the account holder was hooked up with that. Police apprehended the accused individual on Thursday,” Mr Thakur stated.

Prior to now, Vishal had duped a number of different girls on matrimony websites after promising to marry them, police stated.

The accused instructed police throughout interrogation that he used to lure divorced girls for marriage and would persuade them to switch cash into his financial institution accounts on the pretext of sending them costly presents.

His 4 financial institution accounts containing cheated quantity of Rs four.5 lakh have been frozen, the DCP stated, including that additional investigation into the matter is underway.
