A 21-year-old pupil was arrested for allegedly harassing a lady by creating a number of pretend profiles of her on social media platforms and posting obscene messages on it, Delhi police mentioned on Thursday.
In response to police, the accused was the buddy of the sufferer’s elder sister. Nevertheless, his friendship along with her broke in March and he suspected that the sufferer was behind it, they mentioned.
The accused has been recognized as Umesh Kumar, a resident of Sangam Vihar, they mentioned.
The lady had lodged a grievance at Neb Sarai police station final month the place she alleged that somebody has created a number of profiles of her on social media by utilizing her picture and giving her cellular quantity and posted obscene feedback on it, a senior police officer mentioned.
She alleged that after the pretend profiles have been made, she was being constantly harassed and was getting nameless cellphone calls from completely different numbers, the officer mentioned, including that individuals have been to her speaking in a grimy language and asking for different favours.
Throughout investigation, the involved social media platforms have been requested to dam these accounts. The related particulars of cellular numbers have been analysed and all attainable technical particulars about accused have been obtained.
“Later, police zeroed in on the placement of the accused and arrested him from Sangam Vihar space,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Atul Kumar Thakur mentioned.
Interrogation revealed that Kumar was the buddy of sufferer’s elder sister. In March, when his friendship broke along with her, he suspected that it was because of the her youthful sister — the sufferer, the DCP mentioned.
Thereafter, he determined to harass her by creating her pretend profiles with obscene posts and feedback, police added.
