A retailer of fashionable jewelry model Tanishq was attacked in Gujarat amid row over an commercial that has been withdrawn after vicious trolling on social media. The shop supervisor was reportedly made to write down an apology letter by the mob. “Apologies to folks of Kutch district for hurting sentiment of Hindus by broadcasting secular commercial (sic),” the supervisor reportedly wrote within the apology letter after the Tanishq retailer in Gujarat’s Gandhidham was attacked, sources mentioned.

The commercial – launched final week – was trolled by a bit on social media who felt it “promoted love jihad”. The vicious trolling, nonetheless, was condemned by Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor, writer Chetan Bhagat, amongst many others who mentioned it was towards the Thought of India.

On Tuesday, Tanishq issued an announcement saying it was “deeply saddened with the inadvertent stirring of feelings” and that it was withdrawing the video.
