New Delhi:

The NIA on Sunday carried out searches on the homes of an ISI agent who was arrested for allegedly sending images of delicate and strategically necessary installations and data of the motion of the armed forces to suspected handlers of Pakistan”s highly effective spy company.

The searches had been carried out on the residential premises of Mohammad Rashid at Chandauli and Varanasi, an NIA official mentioned.

Rashid was arrested on January 19 and charged beneath sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act. He was in touch with defence/ISI handlers in Pakistan and had visited Pakistan twice, the official mentioned.

Rashid was discovered to be transmitting images of a few of the delicate and strategically necessary installations in India and the motion of the armed forces to suspected ISI handlers in Pakistan, the premier investigation company mentioned.

Through the searches, a cell phone and a few incriminating paperwork have been recovered and seized, the official mentioned.

Additional investigation is underway, he added.
