Carrying the severed head of a girl he allegedly killed holding her answerable for the dying of a relative, a 30-year-old man walked round one kilometre to succeed in a police outpost in Odisha’s Jajpur district and surrendered, an official stated on Thursday.

The incident occurred in Chhatara village in Danagadi police station space on Wednesday night time, he stated.

Kartik Kerai axed 62-year-old Nandini Purti to dying, a couple of days after the demise of his ailing cousin, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jajpur Street, Chinmaya Nayak stated.

“Now we have recovered the physique and initiated an investigation. The accused is being interrogated with the intention to confirm the circumstances that led to the incident,” the SDPO stated.

Villagers informed the police that one in all Kerai’s cousins had fallen sick lately and the accused had taken him to the girl for therapy as she was domestically generally known as a witch physician.

Kerai and his cousin returned residence after getting an assurance from the girl that he could be cured.

Nevertheless, the situation of Kerai’s cousin deteriorated and he was admitted to the SCB Medical School and Hospital in Cuttack earlier this month.

He later died within the hospital, the police officer added.
