Amid fierce protests over the controversial farm payments, the monsoon session of parliament may conclude today, eight days ahead of schedule as the opposition boycotted proceedings in each homes. The monsoon session began earlier on September 14, 5 months after parliament was adjourned over the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The abrupt conclusion of the session comes amid an uproar over the federal government’s big-ticket farm payments, which have been handed by the Rajya Sabha on Sunday.
Yesterday, seven payments have been handed in Rajya Sabha even because the Congress, Left events, the TMC, the Samajwadi Celebration and the NCP determined to boycott Home proceedings in protest towards the suspension of eight MPs for the rest of the session for unruly behaviour.
