M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Workplace (CMO), is being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in reference to the Kerala gold smuggling case on the Kochi workplace of the company.

M Sivasankar arrived on the ED workplace in Kochi at round three:30 pm on Saturday for questioning within the matter.

The financial offences watchdog, which is probing a cash laundering case associated to the smuggling of gold into the state by way of diplomatic channels, had earlier interrogated M Sivasankar at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram.

Yesterday, three key accused within the high-profile gold smuggling case — Sarith PS, Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair — have been despatched to ED custody until August 17 by a Kochi courtroom.

Whereas in search of the custody, the ED had submitted earlier than the Ernakulam Principal Classes Courtroom that Swapna Suresh has revealed her closeness with former principal secretary to the Chef Minister’s Workplace (CMO) M Sivasankar and that he was totally conscious that her integrity is doubtful.

The matter, which pertains to the smuggling of gold within the state by way of diplomatic channels, had come to gentle after 30 kg gold price Rs 14.82 crores, smuggled in a consignment camouflaged as diplomatic baggage, was busted by customs in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5.
