The Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, which is in nationwide focus following the demise of a teen due to a brutal assault final month, witnessed one more protest on Tuesday after a six-year-old alleged rape sufferer died.
The six-year-old woman died at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Monday, 15 days after being allegedly raped by her maternal cousin in Aligarh, police official Vineet Jaiswal stated.
She used to stick with her maternal aunt in Aligarh, whereas the household belonged to Hathras.
Following her demise, the members of the family and villagers blocked a highway within the district, alleging inaction by a police official in Aligarh.
Mr Jaiswal stated she was allegedly raped by her minor cousin about 15 days in the past. “The boy can also be mentally unsound. A case was registered within the native police station, following which the accused was detained and produced earlier than a juvenile court docket,” he stated.
Mr Jaiswal added that her household had grievances towards a junior police official, which was addressed, following which they ended the roadblock.
“Sadly the woman died yesterday (Monday) at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The household introduced the physique to Hathras for final rights, following which they blocked a highway. That they had some complaints towards the SHO. The Aligarh administration was knowledgeable about it and so they took applicable actions towards the SHO. Now the state of affairs has been introduced underneath management and the household has carried out her final rites,” he stated.
