Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday welcomed Canada’s determination to not recognise the outcomes of ”Referendum 2020” being organised by the pro-Khalistan group ”Sikhs for Justice (SFJ)”.
”Referendum 2020” is a marketing campaign by the SFJ for a separate Sikh state.
He hoped that different nations too would observe Canada’s instance and reject the “secessionist ”Referendum 2020”, which the SFJ was selling to divide India on communal strains.
Mr Singh was reacting to a media report which quoted a spokesperson of the overseas ministry of Canada, as saying, “Canada respects the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of India, and the Authorities of Canada won’t recognise the referendum.”
In a press release, the chief minister stated the specific stand taken by the Justin Trudeau authorities on the problem is exemplary and different nations and governments must also come out brazenly in opposition to SFJ.
The group has been banned by India as a terrorist organisation and its founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has been declared a terrorist for actively selling Pakistan-backed terror actions on Indian soil, he stated.
