Gangtok:

The Sikkim authorities has prolonged the statewide lockdown until August 1 to curb the unfold of the novel coronavirus, in accordance with a notification.

A whole, six-day lockdown, imposed by the hilly state, was scheduled to finish on Sunday.

“After cautious consideration of the state of affairs, it has been determined to increase the interval of lockdown in the complete state of Sikkim until 6 am of August 1, 2020,” a notification issued by Chief Secretary S C Gupta mentioned.

The state reported its first COVID-19 loss of life on Sunday after a 74-year-old man died to the illness at a state-run hospital in Gangtok, the official mentioned.
