Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Okay Palaniswami has urged Exterior Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar to rearrange for repatriation of 40 fishermen from the state who had been left behind in Iran.
They’ve been left behind as a consequence of lack of area within the ship which had repatriated a batch of fishermen from Iran on July 1.
In a letter to the Exterior Affairs Minister dated July 10, Mr Palaniswami recalled his earlier letter dated Could 19, and stated he had requested for the repatriation of stranded fishermen from Iran to Tamil Nadu.
“Accordingly, 681 fishermen have been repatriated safely to Tamil Nadu through INS Jalashwa on 1st July, 2020, and I thanks for a similar. Additional, round 40 fishermen from Tamil Nadu have been left behind as a consequence of inadequacy of area within the ship. I request you to rearrange for his or her repatriation on the earliest to Tamil Nadu in a particular flight,” the chief minister stated within the letter launched to the media right here

The Indian Navy had repatriated over 600 Indians from Iran as a part of the Centre”s “Samudra Setu” mission to evacuate stranded residents from overseas.
Indian Navy ship Jalashwa repatriated 687 Indian nationals, most of them fishermen, from Iran and so they arrived on the VOC Port in Tuticorin on July 1.
In the meantime, CPI(M) Tamil Nadu state secretary Okay Balakrishnan wrote to Palaniswami lately, in search of his intervention to rescue the fishermen from the state who’ve been stranded in Iran with out job and revenue.
The fishermen must be given meals and different primary facilities till rescued, he had stated.
