The NHRC on Wednesday mentioned it has issued notices to the DGP of Tamil Nadu and SP of Thoothukudi district within the southern state over the loss of life of a father-son duo allegedly as a result of torture by police.
The Nationwide Human Rights Fee (NHRC), in a tweet, additionally mentioned it has sought a report from the cops, which has to “embody inquest report, autopsy examination report, medical remedy document, magisterial enquiry report and well being screening report of each victims, inside 6 weeks”.
P Jayaraj and his son Bennix , who had been arrested for “violating” lockdown norms over the enterprise hours of their cellphone store, died at a hospital in Thoothukudi”s Kovilpatti on June 23, with the kin alleging that they had been severely thrashed on the Sathankulam police station by the personnel earlier.
