An MLA from West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress, who had examined constructive for coronavirus, died at a hospital this morning. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her condolences over the loss of life of Samaresh Das.
Samaresh Das, 76, was the MLA from Egra meeting constituency in East Midnapore district. He died at a hospital in East Midnapore.
Mr Das, a three-time MLA from Egra, had developed issues of coronary heart and kidney, information company PTI quoted unnamed social gathering sources as saying.
In June, one other Trinamool Congress MLA, Tamonash Ghosh, who too had examined constructive for COVID-19, died in a hospital in West Bengal. Mr Ghosh was a three-time MLA from Falta meeting constituency in South 24 Parganas district.
A Trinamool councillor, Subhash Bose, died of coronavirus earlier this month after a 12-day battle in opposition to COVID-19.
Bengal has logged over 1.16 lakh instances of coronavirus, together with 2,428 deaths, for the reason that starting of the pandemic. The state has reported three,066 coronavirus instances and 51 deaths within the final 24 hours.
Earlier this month, veteran Communist Social gathering of India (Marxist) chief in Bengal – Shyamal Chakraborty – died at a Kolkata hospital, days after he was hospitalised for coronavirus therapy.
India’s coronavirus tally surged to 26.47 lakh instances this morning after almost 58,000 new instances had been reported since yesterday.
