Britain is contemplating minting a coin to commemorate independence hero Mahatma Gandhi, the Treasury stated on Saturday, amid rising curiosity in recognizing the contributions of minorities.
British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak requested the Royal Mint Advisory Committee (RMAC) to pursue recognition of Black, Asian and different minority people, the Treasury stated.
“RMAC is presently contemplating a coin to commemorate Gandhi”, the UK Treasury stated in an emailed assertion.
