The US on Monday confirmed 59,222 new coronavirus instances within the earlier 24 hours, Johns Hopkins College reported in its real-time tally.
That put the whole variety of instances within the US, the nation hardest-hit by the worldwide pandemic, at greater than three.36 million, the Baltimore-based college mentioned at eight:30 pm (0030 GMT Tuesday).
One other 411 deaths have been reported, bringing that complete toll to 135,582.
The nation has seen a resurgence of instances within the so-called Solar Belt, stretching throughout the south from Florida to California.
That uptick has prompted some states to backtrack on loosening their anti-virus restrictions — or to reinstate harder measures.
On Monday, California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom ordered the closure of indoor eating places, bars, film theaters, hair salons and homes of worship to stem the unfold.
