The incident passed off within the state’s Chhindwara district. A bunch of six ladies – all from Junnardeo – had gone on a picnic on the banks of river Pench. Two amongst them – Megha Jawre and Vandana Tripathi – walked to the center of the river, on a rock, to click on from a smartphone. The police staff comprising 12 personnel, together with district administration and locals, rescued the ladies later.
