Kolkata:

Referring to a report of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Financial system (CMIE), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mentioned at present that the state’s unemployment price stood at 6.5 per cent in June this yr, which was “much better” than the nationwide common at 11 per cent.

She mentioned that is because of the financial technique adopted by her authorities to deal with the COVID-19 disaster and the devastation brought on by cyclone Amphan.

“We have carried out a strong financial technique to deal with #COVID19 and the devastation brought on by Amphan. Proof lies in West Bengal’s unemployment price for the month of June 2020 which stands at 6.5 per cent, much better than that of India at 11 per cent, UP at 9.6 per cent and Haryana at 33.6 per cent, as per CMIE,” Ms Banerjee mentioned in a tweet.

Based on knowledge launched by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Financial system on Wednesday, the nation’s unemployment price fell to 11 per cent in June from 23.5 per cent in Might, as financial actions resumed after the lockdown restrictions have been eased.
