A 69-year-old lady from Vasai in Palghar district of Maharashtra was allegedly duped of Rs 57.36 lakh by two folks by social media, the police stated immediately.

The lady, in her grievance to the police, stated a person, who recognized himself as Leo Jovha, befriended her on Fb final month. “He stated he was a resident of Scotland and labored as a pilot with a British airline,” Palghar police spokesperson Sachin Navadkar stated.

The person instructed the girl that he needed to buy two acres of land in an industrial space in her identify and stated he would ship cash for a similar, the official added.

“Quickly, the girl acquired a name from one other lady, who recognized herself as Joshila, who instructed her that a courier has landed on the airport, however held up for clearance. The caller stated that as the quantity is big, the sufferer has to pay the federal government taxes to get the cash,” the official stated.

Over time, the accused stored calling the girl and requested her to deposit cash into completely different financial institution accounts. She was requested to pay a complete of Rs 57.36 lakh, the police stated.

Later, when the girl tried to ascertain contact, each the accused had been unreachable, following which she approached the police and filed a grievance.

Based on the police official, a case below IPC sections 420 (dishonest), 406 (felony breach of belief) and 34 (frequent intention) was registered, however no arrest has been made on this connection until now.
