Whereas eating places in Assam have been allowed to reopen on August 2, bars weren’t (Representational)

Assam Excise Division on Thursday allowed eating places within the state to serve liquor whereas strictly adhering to the social distancing guidelines and different COVID-19 pointers.

A notification issued by the division acknowledged that eating places are allowed to serve liquor offered they’ve licences.

Following the course, the deputy commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan District issued an order stating that every one Indian-Made International Liquor (IMFL) ‘ON’ retailers – locations which might be allowed to promote and serve alcohol – will likely be allowed to stay open from 10 am to five pm with strict compliance to social distancing guidelines and different protocols associated to COVID-19 issued by the federal government.

The liquor retailers within the state have been earlier reopened for a short interval solely to be shut down as additional lockdown, evening curfews and weekend curfews have been reimposed throughout the state.

Eating places have been allowed to reopen on August 2 however the bars have been directed to stay shut.
