P Chidambaram accused the BJP authorities of protecting PM-CARES Fund from any sort of scrutiny

Senior Congress chief P Chidambaram in the present day accused the BJP-led authorities on the Centre of protecting the PM-CARES Fund from any sort of scrutiny.

Mr Chidambaram raised a number of questions on the establishing of the fund.

His feedback come after the Supreme court docket refused to direct the Centre to switch the contributions made to the PM-CARES Fund for battling the COVID-19 pandemic to the Nationwide Catastrophe Response Fund.

“Was the Fund arrange by the central authorities as concluded by the Ministry of Company Affairs? If not, who arrange the Fund and in what capability?” he requested in a collection of tweets.

“If the Fund was not arrange by the central authorities, why are the PM and three Ministers serving as Trustees? Who appointed them as Trustees?” the senior Congress chief requested.

“If the Fund is a non-public established fund, why are donations to the Fund counted towards CSR? Will donations to different privately-established funds be additionally counted towards CSR,” he tweeted.

The previous union minister requested who authorised the Ministry of Company Affairs to make a retrospective modification to the Schedule to the Corporations Act inserting the identify of PM-CARES Fund within the Schedule.

Mr Chidambaram additionally requested if the Ministry of Company Affairs would insert the names of different privately-established funds within the mentioned Schedule to the Corporations Act.

“The retrospective modification in favour of a privately established fund is clearly an act of favouritism and discriminatory. Will probably be challenged,” he added.
