Congress Leaders Detained After Midnight Protest: Jungle Raj In Goa

A number of Goa Congress leaders, together with the pradesh committee vp, have been detained Friday evening after they protested within the foyer of a resort demanding they be allowed to satisfy Union Setting Minister Prakash Javadekar.

Mr Javadekar is in Goa to attend a sequence of conferences on the brand new farm payments Saturday. The Congress leaders reached the resort round midnight and demanded to satisfy the Union minister over the Mahadayi river water dispute with Karnataka.

When the resort administration refused them permission, they sat on a protest within the foyer. Later, the leaders have been detained and brought to a police station in Panaji.

The leaders included Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee President Varad Mardolkar, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Sankalp Amonkar, office-bearer Janardhan Bhandari.

Goa Congress President Girish Chodankar tweeted, “JUNGLE RAJ in Goa — @INCGoa delegation led by Vice President @SankalpAmonkar, @JanaBhandariGoa @Varadmardolkar @AdvArchitNaik @RautMeghashyam @SudinNaikGoa & 10 others arrested by @DGP_Goa for looking for appointment with @PrakashJavdekar & ready to satisfy him in resort foyer in Panjim.”

Mr Mardolkar stated the Congress delegation needed to satisfy Javadekar to query him on the Central authorities’s “silence” over Mahadayi river water diversion by Karnataka.

“Javadekar has failed the State of Goa so far as curiosity of Mahadayi is anxious,” he stated, claiming that the Union minister was additionally chargeable for granting permissions for a number of environmentally hazardous initiatives, which have been being opposed by folks.

Responding to the incident, BJP Goa spokesperson Dattaprasad Naik tweeted, “Solely CHORS (thieves) and dacoits do such issues at midnight @INCGoa impressed by their nationwide chief who was taking part in to the gallery at Hathras yesterday. @BJP4Goa strongly condemns such act by @INCGoa staff.
