A married couple was arrested for allegedly abandoning their toddler son close to a church in Khadaki space of Maharashtra’s Pune metropolis, police mentioned on Friday.

A 3 to four-month-old boy was discovered wrapped in a scarf by some morning walkers on Tuesday, following which the police have been knowledgeable and a case was registered, an official from Khadaki police station mentioned.

Whereas the toddler was despatched to Sassoon Common Hospital, his photograph was circulated by way of messaging functions, and even personnel at Khadaki police station saved it as their show image on messaging functions, he mentioned.

That was when the infant’s maternal uncle noticed the image and contacted the accused, who claimed that the toddler had died, the official mentioned.

The person then took the couple to Sassoon Hospital, the place the lie was uncovered they usually later admitted to having deserted their child, he mentioned.

The daddy suspected the infant wasn’t his and had advised the girl she must abandon the toddler if she wished to stick with him, the official mentioned.

The accused have been arrested underneath part 317 (abandonment of kid underneath 12 years) of IPC and additional probe is underway, he added.
