A retired naval officer was overwhelmed in Mumbai allegedly by activists of Maharashtra’s ruling Shiv Sena for forwarding a cartoon mocking Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Photographs posted on-line confirmed Madan Sharma with wounds on his face and a bloodshot eye. The 65-year-old was allegedly attacked close to his dwelling in Kandivalli East, Mumbai.
An FIR has been registered within the case.
Mr Sharma, in his grievance, mentioned he had forwarded the cartoon to his residential society’s WhatsApp group. He later acquired a name from one Kamlesh Kadam, who requested his identify and deal with. Within the afternoon, he was referred to as outdoors the constructing and was attacked by a bunch of males.
Safety footage that’s being broadly shared reveals the previous officer being thrashed by males, largely carrying masks.
He’s seen strolling to the principle gate of his residence constructing and after a number of moments, working again inside with a bunch of males chasing him. They drag him by his shirt and are seen punching him.
A number of BJP leaders, together with former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, posted a photograph of an injured Madan Sharma.
“Extraordinarily unhappy and stunning incident. Retired Naval Officer received overwhelmed up by goons due to only a whatsApp ahead. Please cease this GundaRaj Uddhav Thackeray ji. We demand robust motion and punishment to those goons (sic),” Mr Fadnavis tweeted.

A BJP MLA has slammed Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over the incident.
“The ruling Shiv Sena which confirmed its masculinity by demolishing the workplace of actor Kangana Ranaut has now overwhelmed a retired Navy officer and has injured his eye. The Chief Minister is working dictatorship from his home,” Atul Bhatkhalkar, BJP MLA from Mumbai’s Kandivali East constituency, tweeted in Hindi.
5 folks, together with Kamlesh Kadam, has been arrested within the case.
