A 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and marrying a teenaged lady from Kolkata, police stated on Monday.
The person was arrested from his home within the state’s North 24 Parganas district based mostly on a grievance filed by the lady’s household, who lives within the Garfa space, they stated.
The lady was rescued throughout a raid performed on Sunday, police stated.
“It has been discovered that the accused married the minor at a temple. We rescued her and she or he was despatched to the SSKM Hospital for a medical take a look at. Nonetheless, she declined to undertake the take a look at,” an officer stated.
The accused has been charged below related sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prohibition of Baby Marriage Act, he added.
