The Nationwide Fee for Minorities (NCM) has sought a report from West Bengal authorities throughout the subsequent 15 days on the difficulty of the turban of a Sikh being allegedly pulled off by the state police throughout a political rally final week, sources in NCM stated.
In a letter to West Bengal Chief secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay and DGP of the state police, the NCM stated the fee had obtained a grievance from Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, a senior chief of Delhi BJP unit, on the alleged pulling off of the turban of a Sikh personal safety officer on October eight.
“The undersigned is directed to request you to ship a report on this matter inside 15 days in order that the matter could possibly be positioned earlier than the fee for its consideration,” the letter signed by the joint secretary of NCM, D E Richards stated.

An argument had erupted on Thursday after the West Bengal police allegedly assaulted a Sikh and pulled his turban throughout a BJP rally in Howrah.
The police had stated that the person, recognized as Balwinder Singh was carrying a firearm throughout BJP’s march to the state secretariat on October eight and that his headgear “had fallen off robotically within the scuffle that ensued”.
The BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress authorities within the state of injuring the feelings of the Sikhs.
The TMC in its flip has had dubbed the allegations as “baseless” and stated accused the BJP, which it has criticised on quite a few events on quite a lot of points, of “making an attempt to communalise the difficulty”.
