The Nagaland authorities has determined to withdraw the steep COVID-19 cess on petrol and diesel, state minister Neiba Kronu mentioned on Wednesday.
The COVID-19 cess of Rs 5 per litre on diesel and Rs 6 per litre on petrol and different motor spirits was imposed on April 28, amid a crunch within the state’s funds within the wake of the lockdown following the COVID-19 outbreak.
The choice to withdraw the cess was taken at a cupboard assembly at Choumukedima within the Dimapur district, Kronu, who can be the federal government spokesperson on COVID-19, mentioned.
Contemplating the necessity to beef up financial actions and paying attention to the issues of the individuals, the choice to rollback the cess was taken, he mentioned.

He mentioned the Nagaland was given Rs 27.84 crore by the central authorities for preventing COVID-19, whereas the state spent Rs 115.80 crore from its personal sources.
Complete COVID-19 cess collected from April to July is Rs 10.32 crore, he mentioned, including that the August collections are but to be deposited.
