Kathmandu:

Not less than 12 folks died and 9 others went lacking in separate incidents of landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in western and jap Nepal on Thursday, officers stated.

Heavy to average rainfall continued to lash Nepal since Tuesday. In line with the meteorological division, the downpour will proceed until Saturday.

9 folks, together with three youngsters, died and 4 others went lacking after their home was swept away by a landslide in Waling municipality of western Nepal, the officers stated.

In comparable incidents in western Nepal, a 15-year-old lady died in Syangja district, whereas a person died in Palpa district. One other individual died in Dhankuta municipality of jap Nepal, they stated.

In Palpa, 5 individuals went lacking after being swept away by a landslide.

A joint staff of Nepal Military and Nepal Police has been deployed to conduct the rescue operations.
